We Are Proud to Sign the Armed Forces Covenant

We are delighted to announce that we have officially signed the Armed Forces Covenant, reaffirming our commitment to supporting serving personnel, veterans, reservists, and their families within our community.

The Armed Forces Covenant represents a promise that those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces, and their families, should be treated fairly and should never face disadvantage because of their service. By signing the Covenant, we are formally recognising the sacrifices made by members of the Armed Forces Community and committing to providing meaningful support that helps improve wellbeing and access to services.

As a charity dedicated to supporting mental health and wellbeing, we understand that members of the Armed Forces Community can face unique challenges. Experiences during service, transitions into civilian life, and the lasting impact of trauma can all affect mental health. We believe it is vital that organisations like ours play an active role in ensuring support is accessible and responsive to these needs.

Our Commitments

As part of our pledge to the Armed Forces Covenant, we have committed to:

  • Providing training for our staff to increase understanding of the Armed Forces Community and the mental health challenges that can affect both serving and former personnel.

  • Designing and delivering a specialist trauma support programme tailored to members of the Armed Forces Community, while actively seeking participant feedback to ensure services meet their needs.

  • Displaying the Armed Forces Covenant logo across our communications and marketing materials to demonstrate our commitment.

  • Creating a dedicated “Services for Armed Forces” section on our website, making it easier for individuals and families to find relevant support.

  • Building partnerships with local Armed Forces charities and organisations to strengthen support networks and improve outcomes for veterans and serving personnel.

  • Signposting members of the Armed Forces Community to specialist services and support, including Veterans’ Gateway and other local resources.

  • Running, facilitating, and promoting support networks such as coffee mornings, breakfast clubs, and other opportunities that help reduce isolation and build connections.

  • Developing collaborative relationships with organisations across our region that are also committed to supporting the Armed Forces Community.

  • Ensuring that dedicated healthcare services available to members of the Armed Forces Community are actively promoted and accessible.

Why This Matters

Mental health challenges do not end when service ends. Many veterans, reservists, and family members may experience difficulties ranging from anxiety and depression to the effects of trauma and post-traumatic stress. Accessing the right support at the right time can make a significant difference.

By signing the Armed Forces Covenant, we are strengthening our commitment to ensuring that members of the Armed Forces Community feel understood, valued, and supported. We recognise that effective support requires more than good intentions; it requires ongoing learning, partnership working, and listening to the voices of those with lived experience.

Looking Ahead

This is not the end of a journey; it is the beginning of an important commitment. Over the coming months, we will be developing new services, building partnerships, and promoting opportunities specifically designed to support members of the Armed Forces Community.

We will also continue to publicise our commitments and share updates on the progress we are making, ensuring transparency and accountability as we work towards creating a more supportive environment for those who have served our country.

We are proud to stand alongside organisations across the UK that have signed the Armed Forces Covenant and to play our part in supporting the wellbeing of serving personnel, veterans, reservists, and their families.

Together, we can help ensure that no member of the Armed Forces Community faces disadvantage and that everyone can access the support they deserve.
