Service Description
These pilates sessions aim to provide a safe, inclusive environment for you to enjoy the activity whether you are a beginner or an expert. Adaptations will be recommended to suit your ability levels throughout the session. This module will look at the 7 principles of Pilates (concentration, control, flow, breathing, precision, centering and alignment) and how to apply them for brain health and resilience. All movement will be adaptable for all abilities and will be low impact. Each session will also include mindfulness relaxation. Session 1: A gentle introduction looking at how the body moves in relation to Pilates followed by a discussion around the meaning of the principles of Pilates. Session will be ended with a short relaxation. Session 2: A recap on the 7 principles of Pilates and short Pilates warm up. A closer look at Concentration, Control and Flow and how they apply to brain health and resilience. Session will end with a short relaxation. Session 3: A recap on the principles of concentration, control and flow through a Pilates warm up. Moving on to looking at the next principles of breathing and precision. Session will end with a short relaxation. Session 4: Completing our understanding of the 7 principles by looking at centering and alignment through a Pilates warm up. A relaxation will follow before the session is ended with a full Pilates routine integrating our learning of all 7 principles. Session 5: In this reflective session, we will explore what coping strategies, if any, you have gained in this module. There will also be time to add to your scrapbook.
