Service Description

These sessions use fencing-based games and exercises that focus on reconnecting the brain and body. All activities can be adapted to suit individual needs. Session 1: This session will explore ways of reconnecting with your body through learning basic fencing rules and an introduction to fencing equipment. Session 2: Protecting oneself: Today you will use games to learn how to defend yourself in fencing. You’ll also begin to learn some more of the rules. Session 3: Problem solving: This session will explore set-backs as the basis of problem solving. You will play a variety of games and fencing activities based around this idea. Session 4: Resilience: Today you will redefine ‘winning’ and learn how to deal with perceived failure. Session 5: In this reflective session, we will explore what coping strategies, if any, you have learned throughout the module. There will also be time to add to your scrapbooks. For more information, please visit: https://www.traumahealingtogether.org/fencing
